Derry Days Out

Derry is in Northern Ireland and is one of the fastest growing cities in the country. It is also one of the fastest growing tourist areas with visitors embarking on a Derry day out from all over the world. If you are coming to Derry, the first order of business might be to select a Derry coach hire company that can handle the members of your party in style, safety, and comfort. You will want to make your first stop at the Tower Museum which has two permanent exhibitions that will be of interest to all members of your group. One exhibition describes the history of Derry while the other exhibition is devoted to the Armada Shipwreck of 1588 when the Spanish Armada sank off the coast nearby. Before you leave, be sure to climb to the top of the tower to get a magnificent view of the city and the river. As you journey downtown, it is worth your time to check out Roseville Street, which is home to many of the famous murals of Derry that depict the “Troubles” that were such a part of this country until just recently. Of course, you will be witness to the famous Derry Walls which run around the outside of the city and are considered one of the most important sites in Northern Ireland. Before leaving Derry, be sure to swing by Carrickfergus Castle to visit one of the most dramatic and famous monuments in Northern Ireland. Visually stunning and historically fascinating, this site will leave you with a better sense of history than when you arrived. The castle is 800 years old and was used as a prison for some time from the 18th century up until it became a magazine and armoury until 1928.
